April 1 - 5

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a restful and enjoyable Spring Break.  This week in room 72 we tested, revised our designs and then retested our thermos'.  We learned that the best thermos designs had layers of insulation on all sides including the top and bottom.  The most successful thermos kept the ice cube from melting for over three hours!

We continued to work on solving word problems.  This week we used video word problems to help us focus in on what questions could be asked.

We then determined what information we would need in order to solve the problem.

Students then wrote out the word problem, solved it using a variety of strategies then checked to see if their thinking and work was correct.

Students are also busy creating storyboards, puppets and background scenery for their Arctic stories as we explore how to orally share our stories effectively.

Today we also had our first day of Circle Friday Clubs.  Everyone was very excited to take part.

Volunteer needed:  We will be attending a performance on April 26 at Storybook Theatre.  I am in need of one volunteer to join us on this date to assist with supervision to and from the theatre and during the performance. If you are able to help out and have current volunteer clearance please use the following link to sign up.
