Summer Links

As we head into summer, I thought I would post a few links for those students who may want to keep their learning skills sharp over the summer or who need a little extra practice.  Please note that some of these resources and activities are American and as such they do not follow the Alberta curriculum.

Links to a wide range of sites for all grade 1 and 2 curriculum.  Please note this site is expected to be discontinued at the end of the summer.

June 7

This week students have been very busy. Take some time this weekend to check out your child's IRIS postings.   You will find a post from Inquiry about their learning around the East Coast. You will also find a post showcasing their writing.  Compare September's writing sample to this weeks.

Students also had the opportunity to redesign and test their boats applying what they had learned about boats and buoyancy and the Acadians.

We also began learning about measurement and how to use nonstandard forms of measurement to measure ourselves accurately.

NEXT WEEK:

1) Wetlands trip: Students will be taking a trip to the wetlands on Tuesday, June 11th from 1:30-2:30. We are still in need to 2 volunteers. If you are available and have your volunteer clearance please sign up at the following link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508054caeab28a1f49-wetlands

2) Year end volunteers needed: If you are able to volunteer for any of the jobs at the link and have your volunteer clearance please sign up

3) Learning Commons books: All learning commons books need to be returned by Friday June 14th.

Boat Building Materials Needed!!

Parents,

This week we will be redesigning and rebuilding our boats incorporating what we have learned about waterproofing, stability, cargo, density, propulsion and what the Acadian people used boats for.  With that in mind can you please send in materials that your child would like to use in building their boat.  We are building on Wednesday.

Thank you!!
